Heels on Wheels is the first luxury women-only ‘ride like a pro’ cycling event. The event is being launched by Doublet, a family owned leading European branding specialist who have been involved in the cycling world for more than 10 years. Doublet started to be involved in the cycling world as a partner of Le Tour de France in 2002. They are a partner of ASO, the company which organizes Tour de France and other races, such as Paris Roubaix, Tour of California and USA Pro challenge. Their in depth involvement in cycling has lead them to identify the demand for a luxury cycling event exclusively for women.
Doublet noticed that women are not as well represented in cycling as men and wanted to do something to promote women in the sport. Step by step, they came up with the idea that it would be great to promote leadership through a cycling event which will create a group of women with the strengths and passion to inspire one another. The ride is not a race and will have three groups of varying difficulties, each group with its own leader. Rolling through the beautiful landscape of Mallorca, Spain, the course will be energizing and challenging. The goal of Heels on Wheels is to encourage female cyclist to share in an amazing experience together.
The last few months have involved much planning and hand picking a first class team of professionals to lead and support this unique event, limited to 40 participants. Currently, The team leaders are : Kathryn Bertine, a professional cyclist for Wiggle Honda, Jo Hogan, who writes a blog called Healthy Cyclist, and Stuart Amory, a celebrity trainer.
Accommodation will be provided at the Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa which was recently awarded Best European Luxury Hotel Spa at the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2014.
During the event, Heels on Wheels will have 2 osteopaths and will organize evening yoga or stretching classes. Lexie Williamson, who wrote, Cycling for Cyclists will come at the end of the last stage to do a 90min recovery session.
